It has been our pleasure to welcome the children who will be in Primary 1 in August to visit our school twice already. The final visit takes place on Thursday 9th June, and we are excited for the children to see their classroom and meet their Primary 1 teacher.
School Uniform Orders (added 1.6.2022)
We would like to inform parents / carers that to guarantee new uniform items arriving in time for August, the deadline to order from Border Embroideries is 10th July 2022.
Sustrans Big Walk and Wheel (added 18.3.2022)
Starting on Monday 21st March, our school will be taking part in Sustrans Big Walk and Wheel. This is designed to encourage more families to travel to school actively, to help create healthier and happier communities. Sustrans Big Walk and Wheel will run for 10 days from 21st March to 1st April 2022. Each day we would like our children to walk, cycle or scooter to school, and in doing so, begin to understand the health and wellbeing benefits of active travel. If you live at a distance from our school, we would encourage you to park at the Park & RIde or at Morrisons, then walk the rest of the way. We hope you all enjoy participating!
Maggi's Centre Easter Egg Appeal (added 7.3.2022)
Our school once again is supporting the Maggie Centre Fund Easter egg appeal. Each year they collect crème eggs and volunteers knit chicken covers for them which they then sell for funds. If your child could donate one or more crème eggs to support the appeal Primary 2 will collect them from classes each day and we will pass them on to the centre. This will be ongoing till 31st March. If anyone is interested in helping the centre by knitting the covers please contact the office who can provide a pattern. You can also download the knitting pattern by clicking here.
School Uniform Bank (added 31.1.2022)
Primary 7 are responsible for Eco and sustainability in James Aiton and as part of this are going to focus on recycling and reusing our bank of school uniforms.
Did you know that fashion is the world’s second largest polluter after the oil industry?
A rubbish truck of clothes is burned or landfilled every single second!;
Polyester takes 7 years to decompose!
In order to do our bit to help reduce this major source of pollution, James Aiton Primary has a giant bank of school uniforms to reuse. These clothes are of great quality, are preloved and laundered; some of them are even new!
We have a selection of:
Trousers, Skirts, Shirts, polo shirts, sweatshirts, dresses, cardigans, shorts and ties.
We aim to make these clothes available to all the pupils that could use these important school supplies.
If you would like your child to receive something from our uniform bank then please contact the school and we will do our best to supply your needs.
Welcome to James Aiton Primary (added 31.1.2022)
We would like to welcome those families who have enrolled their children to start in Primary 1 in August 2022. We will be in regular contact with you to help prepare your child for starting school, and aim to make the transition from Nursery to Primary 1 as smooth as possible.

Is your child starting school in August? Online enrolment opens on Monday 10th January 2022, and all enrolments should be made by Friday 21st January. To register, families will require their child's full birth certificate and 2 proofs of address (eg. utility bills/council tax letter). Please click on this link to South Lanarkshire's Online Enrolment Page. Please note, it is only the parent the child ordinarily stays with who is authorised to register them.
Important Update - Collecting Children From School (added 5.1.22)
Restrictions in school currently remain the same as before with one exception - we will be closing our playground to parents of P2 - P7 children. Parents of children in these classes must collect their child(ren) outside the school gates. Teachers will accompany the classes to the gate. This is to reduce the risk of transmission caused by the new Omicron variant. Due to the highly infectious nature of this variant, we would once again like to remind all parents / carers that face masks MUST be worn when dropping off and collecting children from school. We would also ask you to remain an appropriate distance from others. Thank you for your cooperation with this.
